Information for Students and Volunteers

Various research opportunities exist in the Zoological Museum for students and the general public.

  • For Undergraduate Research Under BIOL 4990 credits with Dr. James Ackerman

  • For Graduate Research Under BIOL 6910 credits (with approval of major professor)

  • Volunteers Anyone can be a volunteer and help the museum grow. We accept students, staff and general public to help us.

IMPORTANT: Previous Zoology knowledge is preferred but not necessarily required.

Some of the activities to be done in the museum are:

  • Preparing and preserving specimens

  • Cleaning and repairing specimens

  • Alcohol filtration and change

  • Database entry

  • Specimen identification

  • Participating in outreach education programs

  • Participation in collecting field trips

  • Provide short talks and tours through the collection
